Question: just had EGD & Colonoscopy done, small hiatal hernia was seen in Lumen, non-bleeding nodule of benign appearance was seen in antrum, non-bleeding ulcer was found in duodenal bulb. Am on GERD diet, how long should I be on this diet? Is regular 7-up pop bad, is it consider citric like oranges? The doctor put me on omeprazole, not sure for how long, what is the normal time to be on that medicine, being on it long bad? Am waiting for the results on all the multiple cold forceps biopsies, what do I need to know anything about the results? Been in pain for 3 weeks, had to drop one college class as it was stressfull. Really hard to continue, just no quick fix. Anything I can take for stomach pain? Thanks

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

You have nodule in the antrum and you are awaiting histopathology report. It would mostly come as a benign lesion and there is no need to worry.

The ulcer is the duodenum could be H.pylori infection related. You need to get tested for it.

The GERD diet should be continued till you complete your medication course and the treatment is over. If you are having recurrent GERD, then you may have to be on GERD diet as long as possible..

You have to take omeprazole for 8 weeks.
If you are found positive for H.pylori, you need to treat it with antibiotics for 2 weeks followed by omeprazole.

For stomach pain omeprazole and tums/Maalox would provide relief.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
