Is Usage Of Copper IUD Advisable When Diagnosed With Herpes?

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Jun 2016
Question: Is it unsafe to use a copper IUD when both my partner and I have herpes? If so, I was unaware of this when I got the copper IUD approx. 6 months ago. Also, I have not had any major issues since getting the IUD; I had the initial cramping and light bleeding and ever since my periods have been on a regular schedule, though they are a bit heaver; however, I just had some light bleeding for the first time in between periods. I know what I have read says light bleeding between periods is normal, but this is the first time it has occurred for me and I have had the IUD for several months. Should I see a doctor?

I have one additional unrelated question, at least I think its unrelated. Lately, quite often in the afternoons I am fatigued, I get a headache (located mostly in the front) and a sore, achy, stiff neck (located in nape and lower back of the head) as well as feeling a little lightheaded and mildly nauseous. I do not feel ill otherwise. I am not sure if this is a stress related reaction (I am a case manager with 80+ clients) or something else I should worry about. Blood sugar, thyroid, etc? There is a lot of paternal diabetes, my dad was type 1 and died at 57 of heart attack and I have many paternal aunts, uncles and cousins with type II, but I have never had an issue, not even prenatal diabetes with my son. I am fairly healthy - eating well and exercising several times a week, but haven't had a blood sugar check in quite some time - I've asked my doc, but she doesn't seem concerned and hasn't ordered any blood work - I am looking into a new PCP. I don't get nauseous often or easily (unless on amusement park rides) so anytime I feel nauseous I get a bit worried and I was a bit scared to get the IUD so my mind automatically jumps to the fear of ectopic pregnancy. Another odd thing that I also mentioned to my doctor is that every so often (1-2x every 6 months) for the last year I will be working at my desk, usually on the computer and I all of a sudden I start feeling funny, tingly and my vision gets blurry then I get extreme vertigo with a hot flash and nausea. This has never happen before the last year, I didn't even know I could have vertigo that bad, almost like one would get if they were extremely drunk. Thank you for any information you can provide, its greatly appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Stress related

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concerns.

All your symptoms seem to be stress related and nothing else.

These are not related to copper IUCD. You need to find relaxing techniques and reduce stress through yoga and meditation.

Take a break for few days from work and you will be fine.

Please let me know if you're having any further queries..
