Brief Answer:
Can be passed on

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

If a raccoon had rabies then the dog could have contracted rabies. Rabies is usually present in the saliva of the mammals and licking the eye is a definite risk factor.
I am sure the rabies status of the raccoon is not known so I recommend rabies vaccination to the person who got licked by the dog. Please approach your GP immediately.

I also suggest the dog to be vaccinated as well.

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

I actually got the rabies immunoglobin and vaccine starting first thing in the morning. this was a week ago. I am now suffering with tingling down my left face and was contemplating stopping the vaccine.

Brief Answer:
Do not stop the vaccine

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for getting back

I am sorry for the short delay in my reply. I was on call at my hospital and I just got back.

Here is what I think

Mild tingling and uneasy feeling is known to happen with rabies vaccine, I suggest you to complete the course of the anti rabies vaccination. For your next dose I recommend Tab Avil to be taken 10 minutes before the injection. Please speak to your doctor as well for examination before giving the vaccine. The newer age vaccines are far less immunologic than the ones used before and you are less likely to face a serious reaction

is there anything I can do to stop the tingling now or do I just have to tough it out? it is not as constant today and is comming and going. yesterday it was constant so I think it is slowly getting better.

Brief Answer:
Tingling

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for getting back. Tingling will settle down on its own and nothing needs to be done about it. However if it is causing too much of a disturbance then I recommend Tab Pregabalin 75 mg once a day at night, it will improve the tingling sensation, the tablet itself takes about 4 days to act so you rather wait it out until it stops on its own.
