Is Motrin Safe To Take For Clavicle Fracture?

default
Posted on Thu, 15 May 2014
Question: My granddaughter broke her clavicle on the right side.."X-ray" shows a small hair line fracture...We were told to wrap her arm to the side with an ace bandage(like a mummy) and give her Motin every 6 hours.... Patient is 2.5 years old. I am concerned about the use of Motrin only due to liver damage could you also alternate Tylenol? Will this pain medication be sufficient to keep her pain down. We also ordered a toddler clavicle sling to replace the ace bandage....Thank you, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
You must have trust in your doctor.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your query.

You must have trust in your doctor, he has rightly advised all the treatment to his patient.

Do not replace motrin by tylenol because tylenol itself can cause liver damage.

Your doctor has already calculated the dose and only then he has prescribe you the medicine. with this medicine pain will definitely go away and patient will be alright with in a few days.

Mortin cause liver damage only if full doses of 2,400 to 3,200 mg is taken daily.

Ace bandage will lead to further union of fracture.

I hope you have got your answer.
