How Is The Raoultella Planticola UTI Infection Spread?

default
Posted on Sat, 7 Feb 2015
Question: how did i get raoultella planticola uti? I had one infection 3 weeks ago. It cleared up and it is back. Doctors in this area have never seen it. Am being treated with Keflex, 500mg/ 3x/day and they are going to then have me take 500 mg 1x/day for 30 days.

This is scary and I don't know how I got it and if it can become systemic.

Anyone with knowledge in this area . . . your reply would be appreciated.

Thank you.

P.S. Also, ketones, protein, moderate blood, WBC, and RBC in urine. this has never happened to me before.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this infection. I understand your worries. Of course, this is not a common cause of UTI. However, this is becoming more common among persons. All infections can become systemic if poorly handled. However, keflex is a good drug and am pretty sure it would prevent this from becoming systemic. I am also of the thinking that this drug was shown to be effective in laboratory testing.

This germ lives in the environment. In most cases, it causes no harm and in some rare cases, it does. There is no particular reason for which it occurs. Death from it is not very common when well treated.

I will recommend that you stay calm and stick to the treatment as this is very important for treatment purposes.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. The reported abnormalities on urinalysis are consistent with the diagnosis of UTI.
