Question: Hello Doctor.
From time to time these last few weeks, I get a tingling sensation in the back of my neck. I get frequent headaches but they do not last longer than 30 minutes to an hour. My new doctor has prescribe new medicines to me for blood pressure and thyroid (tsh=10.92). I have put on 75 lbs. since May of last year. EKG was normal. I am having echocardiogram next week and a TMT/Venous tests as I get severe swelling in my legs everyday to the point the skin starts to hurt. Could this be linked somehow or do I have to see another specialists as while. Thank you. Clint XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
It can be migraine?Spondylosis?congestive cardiac failure?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for you query,

Tingling sensation in back of neck in a patient with history of frequent headache(possibly migraine) can be a Aura of migraine.Sometimes there are other parts of the body that are affected by migraines. As changes occur in the brain, different sensations may be felt throughout the body. A common complaint is a feeling of numbness or tingling in a Neck ,face and shoulder. These symptoms are sometimes associated with sensory aura. Please do mention if headache is unilateral or bilateral in your case.Unilateral headache(half head) is usually migraine.
It can be because of increased weight ,Increased weight causes overuse of muscles, muscle strain, or injury to the muscles, ligaments, and discs that support your cervical spine.Even Poor posture(using pillow and soft mattress while sleeping). Pressure on the spinal nerves from certain problems, such as a herniated disc can be a cause of it.I would suggest you to go for a X ray cervical and thoracic region AP and LATERAL view, to rule out the possibility of cervical spondylosis.

Increased swelling over the leg can be because of cardiac problem.Congestive heart failure, occurs when the heart is unable to pump sufficiently to maintain blood flow to meet the body's needs.
The term congestive heart failure is often used, as one of the common symptoms is congestion, that is, build-up of too much fluid in tissues.Specifically, congestion takes the form of water retention and swelling (edema), both as peripheral edema (causing swollen limbs and feet).edema in legs is often encountered in Right sided heart failure.
Few baseline tests of cardiology like echo, tmt are required to be done to rule out cardiac functions.
As per you question you shouls see a Neurologist for you headaches and parasthesia problem and a cardiologist for your leg edema problem.A diagnosis can be made only after the results of all tests are interpretated as every thing may be linked to each other.
