This has improved but one symptom I noticed was weak urinary low post the incident which has not improved and I have to urinate frequently now. Could this injury have this effect and if I what are my options?

doctor1 MD

Hi thanks for your question.
One of most important point in history you have not mentioned is your age. Herniated disc can cause urinary problems like loss of control over urination, dribbling of urine. Before labeling herniated disc as a cause for your frequency of micturation, any problem with...

I have zero history of any eye problems, I wear glasses only for reading, my eyesight has always been perfect. I recently injured myself in a heavy lifting accident, resulting in the complete rupture of my rotator cuff on the right shoulder . This same accident caused 2 herniated discs in my cervical spine (c3-c4) as well as a 2 mm retrolisthesis of c4 upon c5. Now my left eye tears constantly for no reason. There is no irritation, no corneal scratching , nothing happened that would explain this physically... my question is this: Is it possible that the neck / shoulder injury could be a factor in this sudden onset of constant tearing of the left eye?

I am planning to get an epidural steriod injection ( X-ray guided) for my herniated disc location L5-S1. I am NOT currently pregnant, but my husband and I would like to try to get pregnant after getting the ESI treatment. Should I be concerned about the amount of radiation that I will be getting from the Xray that they will use during the procedure? WIll it damage oocytes, such that if we conceive successfully later on, the fetus can have genetic abnormalities? Or can the radiation affect fertility? Thank you. Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

You can certainly go for fluoroscopic guided epidural injection,if you are not pregnant at present.
Amount of radiation during fluoroscopy doesn't damage oocytes at all. Also it will not cause genetic abnormality in future pregnancy nor it will decrease the...

Hai,

I have had two lamenectomys on l- 4 - S -5 .There is no remaking disc at that level. I now have another herniated disc at the l-4 level, which involves a pinched nerve causing pain down the leg. One neurosurgeon recommends another lamenectomy another neurosurgeon disagrees and offered axialif spinal surgery. Can you discuss the pros and cons of each. I am unable to tolerate any type of pain medication for various reasons. I have tried physical therapy and epidural steroid injections without success. I understand that there is some new form of physical therapy for lack of a better word to use. I understand that this therapy was developed by a physician, who like myself, has cerebral palsy and disc problems. Supposedly, this I doctor avoided surgery as a result of this therapy. I also understand that a grant for this treatment must be procured. Do you know anything about this doctor or this treatment.? Can you furnish the details so that I can obtain a grant and begin treatment? I have been in constant pain for the last five years leaving me unable to do anything. I would like to avoid surgery and get my life back. I live in New Orleans, LA. Thank you very much for your assistance.
