Can Rotavirus Enter The Body Through Open Sores?

Question: I have dermatitis on my hands that has left several places on my knuckles with open cuts. This morning, my 7 month old son had diarrhea and it could potentially be a stomach bug. We are taking him to the doctor as soon as they open, but in the mean time I'm worried that some of his diarrhea got into the open cuts on my hands. Within 5 minutes of it happening, I thoroughly washed my hands (we were out of soap so i had to use dish soap), and I sprayed peroxide on all of the open cuts that I could see. Does this put me at risk for some sort of blood infection?

Brief Answer:
risk is very very low

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Diarrhea is usually due to viral, bacterial or fungal infection of the gastrointestinal tract but in children it is most commonly due to viral infection.

These viruses , the most common one being the rotavirus, mainly infect the gastrointestinal tract (stomach and intestines). It is very rare of infection to spread beyond this area, it can occur but it is very uncommon.

This means that the chance of an infection via your blood is extremely low especially with the measures you took to clean your hands.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
