The time I had taken the pills w as within 72 hours of the unprotected sex. I am not sure if it will do its job as a contraceptive or should I buy plan b. If so, am I taking too much pills.

Brief Answer:
Junel can be used as emergency contraceptive.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Junel can be used as an emergency contraceptive. 5 tablets are taken two times with a difference of 12 hours. The plan B that you took earlier will not help much in preventing pregnancy later.
There is no need to take plan B again.
But I would advise you to use a surer way of contraception like oral pills as plan B if taken repeatedly can cause you menstrual irregularities.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

I took the second amount of pills after nine hours is that still ok ? And the plan b that I took was a little over 72 hours....between 72 and 96. I read that plan b is effective up to 120 hours after incident. I was wondering if I should continue to take one pill of junel until my period comes

Brief Answer:
Details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Taking pills just 9 hours after taking Plan B is not recommended. This can cause side effects like irregular bleeding headache and vomiting.
After 72 hours the efficacy of plan B decreases by 50%.
You can continue taking one pill daily till your period comes. This can be associated with intermittent bleeding before your period and your next period may be delayed by a few days.
Hope my answer is helpful.
