After How Many Days Of Expected Period Date Is HPT Conclusive?

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Mar 2015
Question: Hi, I'm 27, LMP 1/27/15, my husband and I had sex 2/14/15. When would be a good time to take a HPT? I haven't said anything to him yet (don't want to get him excited, if that's not the case), I am a full time student and sometimes I can get overtly stressed and make my periods irregular. Any advice would be helpful. I have been getting up throughout the night to urinate, something I don't usually do, I've been having heartburn for the pass couple of days, and having multiple bowel movements today, when I normally have one a day.

Brief Answer:
Home pregnancy test to be done 2-3 days after the expected period date

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX I have gone through your question and understand your concern. Since you and your husband had intercourse around the time of ovulation (near the 14 th day of the periods ), there are chances that you might have conceived.
The good time to take home pregnancy test is approximately 2-3 days after the expected date of the periods, with the first urine sample in the morning.
If the test is positive, do consult an OBGYN specialist for further management.
If the test is negative, I would suggest you to repeat a test after one week, as sometimes due to stress, there may be delayed ovulation and hence delayed conception.
Frequent urination and heartburn can be due to pregnancy.
Multiple bowel movements are usually not common in pregnancy and if this continues for next 1-2 days more, I would suggest you to consult a physician for getting examined and treated for diarrhoea. In the meantime, do take plenty of fluids and oral rehydration solution to keep you rehydrated.
Hope you found the answer helpful. Please do get back to us for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
