Underactive Thyroid. Have Menopausal Symptoms. Trigger Finger. Cortizone Injection. Suggestion?

Hello my name is Esperanza I'm also experiencing a problem with my right middle finger which the doctor diagnoised as trigger finger. I will see an orthopoedic doctor for a cortizone injection possibly. However my body is constantly aching as though I am coming down with the flu. I have been looking online for any answers I might find. I am 54 and it seems like my aches and pains are menopause symptoms, any way that is what some of the forums are saying. Could that be it? I also suffer from underactive thyroid and I am on medicine for that. Please help.

Dear Esperenza,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be due to hormonal imbalance in the body, which occurs during Menopause.
As you are already on medications for under active thyroid, the role of thyroid hormones in your symptomatology can be ruled out.
However, it will be better to consult a Gynecologist & get hormonal assay done for Estrogen, Progesterone, etc.
If any abnormality is detected, then it will be subsequently managed by Hormonal Replacement Therapy.

Other causes for your symptoms can be:
1. Any fluctuation in the blood pressure & blood sugar levels.
2. Inadequate hydration status & electrolyte balance of the body.
3. Deficiencies of certain nutrients like Iron, Vitamin B 12, Folic acid, etc. which interferes with blood formation.
4. Stress, inadequate sleep, etc.

Investigations like complete blood count, estimation of blood pressure & blood sugar levels will be helpful to rule out any pathological cause for the symptoms.

Wishing you a Good Health.
Thanks & take care.
