Could The Delayed Periods Be Due To Benzaclin?

I just started taking BenzaClin a couple of weeks ago. I was scheduled to have my period on the 16th, but it didn't come. Is this a side effect of the new medicine? I've had my normal PMS symptoms for a couple of days already so I'm expecting it to come soon. I was wondering if this could also just be normal because I've only had my period for a year and it might still be irregular?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
Benzaclin does not affect menstrual Cycle. Certain Hormonal medications which we give along with Antibiotics, may affect the menstrual Cycle, if not taken as advised. As you have not mentioned about any other medicines except Benzaclin, we must look for other causes. As you are a young girl, and just started menstruation one year back, with PMS, and having Acne, may be you have hormonal imbalance. You may observe your 2-3 cycles, and if irregularity continues, you must go to see your doctor, who will advise you to do Thyroid function test, Androgen profile, Insulin level, and if needed also Prolactin, FSH And LH levels. make sure that you are doing regular exercises, and not gaining weight. eat healthy food also.
Hope you got your answer.
take care.
