Will The Hyperthyroid Condition Increase With Age?

Hi I am of Asian decent and female, have thallassemia minor and a hyperthyroid condition, I feel pretty good most of the time although my energy levels get very low on occasions, I bruise easily. My doctors want to medicate my hyperthyroid for 2 years. My question is apart from the occasional low energy episodes I feel good so I am hesitant to take medication so can I expect my condition to worsen as I age - my current age is 56.
