Will The Huge Scar Which Was Because Of The Knee Replacement Heal And Become As Normal?

My 23 year old daughter ghastly had mutiiple knee surgeries. 1meniscous tear repair 2 another Dr while at college took MRI and swelling six months later was another meniscous tear (later told one tear repair will always indicate tear on future MRI) andsaid needed surgery later told removed pilaca. Leg blew up turned purple another surgery to remove nonveinous blood clots months later knee still swollen and hurts now graduated from college and home.Take her to sports medicine Dr and he said knee is just tramatized go run. Months later take her to orthopaedic surgeon another MRI stress fracture found another surgery to repair using calcium phosphate her body rejects this and now Dr has to remove this

and replace with cadaver bone graft. Months later the knee is still swollenstill gets warm and synovial fluid is bloody. Dr says bone healing, but creeping absorption. Will take six more months. Her knee feels foreign, like it isn't her knee and she can't stand for a long period or it swells and feels hot. Last surgery was like knee replacement with Huge scar. Her knee always looks dark and unnormal. Help please. Will this heal? She is depressed, very thin vegetarian.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi there.

A scar from multiple surgeries is unlikely to heal completely.....it might get a little lighter with time though.

Do not try to get it surgically removed as it might make it worse.
I usually advice my patients to apply coconut oil over the scar.....
It sounds strange....but it does work nicely......I would advise you the same.

I hope my advice has helped
Good luck
