Will Taking Ibuprofen And Nasal Spray Cure Inflamed Eustachian Tube And Ear Pain?

I had some small stuffiness for a week which lead into ear pain that radiates into my jaw and neck. My node is swollen and my pcp diagnosed an inflamed Eustachian tube and possible early sinus infection Monday. I just took my last pill of a z-pack and feel no better. The pain is worse at the end of the day and especially when I lay down. Z-pack, nasal spray, Zyrtec, muciniex dm and ibuprofen daily (spread thru the day). Oh and ambien at night to help sleep. And took an Vicodin last night and now from hip surgery in June to help with pain with minor improvement. Is it too early to expect significant improvement? Or should I get this looked at again tomorrow?

Hi and tahnks for the query,
Looks like you have developed ear infection.
Most definitely you neeed to see your doctor immediately.
You will require an appropriate antibiotic, some anti inflammatory and some decongestant nose drops.
At home do some steam inhalation to relieve the eustachian tube block and chew some gum, keep yourself well hydrated and see your doctor soon.
Dont worry, ear infections are pretty common and if treated early and adequately they will resolve completely.
With the right treatment you should be feeling fine in 2 to 3 days.
regards,
Dr Kishori
