Will My Slightly Enlarged Prostate Shrink Sufficiently If I Take Pomegranate Juice So As To Avoid The Drugs And The TURP?

My Urologist performed a cystoscopy and said I had a bladder with trabeculation that may eventually lead to sacules possibly becoming diverticuli. He said though I will probably need a TURP in the future that in the short-term I should take Flomax for up to a year or two before he decides to operate. Query: Given the side effects of Flomax, if I do nothing except say take saw palmetto and other supplements like pomegranate juice, will my slightly enlarged prostate presently obstructing my urethra shrink sufficiently so as to avoid both drugs and the TURP?

Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have obstructive voiding symptoms due to enlarged prostate which is confirmed on cystoscopy(Trabaculated Bladder).

The Flomax is a drug which relaxes smooth muscles in bladder neck and prostate and helps to improve urine flow.It has no action on glandular element (Adenoma) which is the basic feature of enlarged prostate.

The saw palmetto or Pomegranate juice are supplements that act like Flomax and does not regress the size of the adenoma(Enlarged Prostate).

If you do not intend to take medications I would suggest to you get TURP done to relieve your symptoms .This will resolve the issue and improve quality of life..
