Will Chicken Pox During Pregnancy Affect Fetus?

Hi My wife is 20 weeks pregnant..now she has been suffering from chickenpox..all over on her body there are rashes...dr said since she completed 20 weeks pregnancy there is nothing to worry as baby developed ...how far this is true...are there any dangers .please suggest

Thanks for writing to healthcare magic.
The baby organs like heart, brain, limbs etc are formed over early say by 12 weeks. If any infection in this time the baby can have anomalies I.e defect in heart or spine etc.
As your wife has already completed 20 weeks there may not be much risk .
Still please do a level 2 scan before 22 weeks.
Please write back with reports.
