Will Breastfed Babies Have Difficult Bowel Movement?
My daughter is 2 1/2 months...100% breastfed. In the evenings she seems to get belly aches and can t eat much because of pain. I have tried gas meds, pushing her knees to her chest, and massaging her belly. Nothing seems to work. When she has a bowel movement she feels a little better for awhile. Seems like she has a hard time having the bowel movements. Is this normal in breastfed babies? I didn t think this would be a issue for breastfed babies, it never was for my other two children. Thank you for your time, A very concerned mother of three.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of your 2 and 1/2 months old baby, seemingly having pain in abdomen in spite of being purely breastfed. You have tried your best but seemingly looks to be problem in passing motion. I would advise you the following: Watch for any distension, vomiting, constipation, to be bothered only if these symptom are present. See the anal area for any redness or excoriation. Consult a pediatrician if you have any doubts. Clean the nipples and areola with pure spirit to make the area sterile.
