Will STD, PID And Sore Hips Increase The Chance For Ovarian Cancer?

When I was `7, I had PID caused from a STD. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks due to infection. I required surgery to lazer scar tissue that was adhered to everything in the abdomin. Fast forward 26 years...I am now 43yr old....have two kids ( after a few more surgerys to "free" up tubes etc). My rt ovary has alway hurt, I can feel it when I ovulate...sometimes walk, sit etc. Last year during pelvic exam I jumped off table. Did ultrasound, found complex cyst only about 5 cm. 6 months later, cysts were functional...no problem. 12 months later, I am 10 pounds heavier, bloated, rt. hip is sore/aches alot, pelvic exam this year( last week) I jumped off the table same rt ovary. Dr. said as long as sex doesnt hurt..dont worry about it!

I am worried, that due to my past, with PID and the total mess that was inside something more is going on? Can my history of STD, PID...sore hips...etc. increase my chance for ovarian cancer.? I feel like something is going on with my rt. side and have felt that way since last year...should I take it further? If I request a CA-125 will dr. usually give it to me. I think that might help calm my fears....Thank YOu..

Hello
history on one time PID ,STD is not always with development of cancer at later age however persistent PID or STD may lead to developement of cervix cancer or endometrial cancer (uterine cancer). American cancer society recommends screening for all females till 65 years of age. tests are very simple. pap smear and gyanecology examination to rule out cervix cancer, USG of pelvis for endometrial cancer and in addition CA-125 value can help to some extent for ovarian cancer screening . however CA125 value can be high in case of certain noncancerous conditions also. Its better to be on preventive side or to detect any abnormality at an early stage so i will suggest you to go to gyanecologist for the testing. regarding your rt hip problem may be some more investigation like x-ray of pelvis can help. hope this answer would have helped you
