Will Adderall Dosage Be Lowered Due To Anxiety Attacks?
HI. I have been subscribed Adderall and have been taking it for almost 4 weeks now. It was working great till i got my first panick/anxiety attack last week. Since then, i keep getting small ones and i'm constantly thinking about it. My dose is 20mg twice a day but i only take about 20mg-30 total. Will the psychiatrist lower my dose, take me off if it or give me something for anxiety? Thank you!
Thanks for putting up your query on HealthCareMagic. Adderall (a combination of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine) is a psychostimulant which is generally well-tolerated and effective in treating the symptoms of ADHD. The most common side effects are cardiovascular, such as irregular heartbeat (usually as a fast heartbeat), and psychological, such as euphoria or anxiety. The anxiety attacks that you have been getting might therefore have been caused as a side-effect of this medication. In that case, your doctor may reduce the dose or change the drug altogether. This might depend on the exact indication for which your doctor has prescribed this medicine, is unclear from the details that you have mentioned. Unless I get the details, it is difficult to comment on that.
