Why Is My Tongue Suddenly Swelling?

I was eating a piece of blueberry bread and suddenly the right side of my tongue began to swell, my right gland swelled so much that there is a visible "lump" on the outside of my neck, and my ear (eustachian tube) hurts. I am 45 years old, have never had a food allergy to anything, including blueberries, but did have a sinus infection last week which I was treated with Azithromyacin. My concern is because it happened so suddenly while I was eating and doesn't seem to be related to my most recent infection, as all seemed better.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain sudden swelling of tongue after eating along with swelling in the glands under the jaw is clear indication if allergic reaction and you must have got allergic reaction to any of the components of food that you have taken and to know the ingredient causing allergy, consult a physician and get an allergic testing done by getting a blood test..

As of now for relief you can take Cetrizine or fexonfenadine [allegra] as they are anti-allergic medicines and will relieve the allergy symptoms..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
