Why Having Constipation And Problem With Bile Movement After Removal Of Ovarian Cyst And Gallbladder?

I have been having problems with my stomach; especially with constipation. I had surgery to remove gallbladder and still have problem with bile movements. Recently, iI had ovarian cysts removed, the one on the left was larger than a tennis ball and the right size of glop ball. I still have pain which is across the stomach in area where gall bladder was that feels like stabbing or tightening with barb wire; even experiencing swelling. Sometimes when I do have a bile movement, it has mucus with it or slime. What could this be?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

After reading your query thoroughly, I have come to following suggestions

* Post cholecystectomy mucus with stool can be due to bile drainage disturbances or dumping syndrome.

* Issue with constipation might be in relation with intestine adhesions after the surgery for the said reasons.

* It is strongly recommended to get MRI of the abdomen and pelvis with or without diagnostic endoscopy after discussion with your surgeon for further best management guidelines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
