When Does The Bleeding Stop After Eardrum Is Ruptured?
My six month old has a ruptured eardrum, which came five days after running a fever with no other apparent symptoms, not even a running nose. I took her to the doctor the fourth day and was told it was probably a viral infection, like I was thinking so I was totally surprised when her ear drum ruptured that night. She wasn t pulling at the ear or acting like she was in pain. Nor did the doctor see anything unusual at her apt. We went back to the doctor and they confirmed that is what happened and gave her an antibiotic and ear drops. It s going on the third day and she still has blood and fluid and thick discharge coming from the ear. I m wiping it as I see it but its enough that her shoulder of her shirt was covered in it from times I did nt get to it first. It seems like an excessive amount. Is this normal and how long should I expect this to continue. Mine ruptured years ago and I don t remember having the fluid continually after the initial rupture. She still has a slight fever but is still acting normal with no other symptoms. Thank you for your time.
