What would be the proper terminology for an Aortic Repair ?

I am a nursing student and my patient stated that they had an aortic repair. I am just wondering if there is any other correct terminology when documenting such findings. I am not even sure if there are different types of aortic repairs because they were very vague about it. Any help would be appreciated!

Surely good answers all, however, they are all assuming he meant aortic aneurysm, it could just as easily been his aortic valve that was repaired. Most people would call that a replacement but it's still kind of vague. It can also be refered to as a AAA repair, (abdominal aortic aneurysm). Hope this helps.

5 of my uncles died of Aortic Aneurysms, and my father has one too? what are the chances of myself getting one later in life (i am 47). My sister is frantic with worry that i will die like this, and it frightens the daylights out of her. Thanks. I gave up smoking at 40. 4 of my uncles smoked until well in their 60 s. I have since gone to my Dr, who said that bercause i gave up smoking and have a low fat diet, i have at least a 73-78% LESS chance of getting this disease than my forefathers.

My husband just received a call about his ct lung scan. We were told they see a soft tissue prominence on the left lung. Does prominence now mean a mass in the medical world? His Dr. will be calling us back on Friday for more in-depth discussion. He has constant cough, constant cold symptoms. We started doctoring thinking it was his heart, but it looked good. Some back/chest pain, some swallowing issues.

I have noticed the odd missing heart beat over the years. However, they are more frequent than they used to be. Two years ago I was monitored for 24 hours, which gave 17000 missed beats during that time.
Since then I have had an Aortic valve replaced which had no effect on my problem. They are now quite intrusive at times, enough to make me feel a little light headed. DOB 1934.
Thanks

my son is 20 mnths old. he was diagnosed with bicuspid aortic valve when he was born due to heart murmur2/6 sem. no diastolic murmur. we see the cardiologist 1/year. however he does not have the heart murmur anymore. we saw the cardiologist last week and he said that the left ventricle, tricuspid valve, and mitral valve are normal. the valves are fused togter since birth, and not all the fused valves cause problems. and based on his expericen he doesnt think he will face any problem before 40 s and might not even face anything at that time. when i asked him if the aortic root is dilated, he said that they are a little bit dilated comparing to someone who does not have BAV. and he said not to worry. his valve s are goog functioning valves, and they are at the good end of it. whats your openinion regarding my sons condition. is all BAV cases have some degree of aorta dilation, my son has no other medical condiotn, how fast the aorta become dilated. he has no stenosis or regneration in the valves. thank you,
