Hi.
Read your history and understood the problem you have.
Atrophic Rhino-
pharyngitis without ozena is still treatable medically.
I hope you do not have diabetes or
Chronic sinusitis.
In such a patient I would advise you the following:
First of all get a consultation of another ENT Surgeon for fresh examination, investigations and medical management as follows:
Blood- CBC, sugar, urea,
creatinine, to rule out any diabetes or kidney problems or any other medical disorder which can cause the similar problem.
Urine-
CT scan of the
Paranasal sinuses and nose to see for any primary cause like sinusitis or done destruction and to see the secondary effects of the
atrophic rhinitis.
X-ray of the chest to rule out
Tuberculosis which can be a primary reason and is fully treatable.
The treatment plan would be :
Anti-oxidants, therapeutic doses of Vitamin A and D as they help rebuilding the mucus lining.
A course of an antibiotic and
metronidazole on empirical basis.
Oral steroids do help revert back many changes due to its strong anti-inflammatory effect.
Avoid too hot and too cold foods and beverages.
Avoid hot and spicy foods.
Dosage taken in a proper way may revert back at least some changes.
As far as the translocation of the salivary glands : it is yet on the experimental basis. And is not possible at the moment. Secondly the salivary glands can secrete the secretions only by stimulation. Hence may not be of a great choice.
Take a complete course of medicines, continue anti-oxidants for a long time and you may be fine.
