Diabetologist 's  Response
Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal.

Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query

That was very observant of you. My commendations to you since it is not everyone who recognizes a hypoglycemia. However, I would suggest that at least once you check the sugars when an episode occurs similar to this.
The idea is that in some patients, high sugars can cause similar symptoms.

I would suggest that if you really have been developing hypoglycemia, meet your diabetologist again. the dose of the medicines need to be modified so that the sugars do not reduce.
Similarly, make sure you are taking a regular diet, a drop in the diet while taking the same medicine can cause hypoglycemia.

To answer the most specific part of your question- what to do when you develop hypoglycemia. I personally suggest all my patients to carry some sweets with them- whatever they like and whatever they are comfortable carrying. Chocolates and toffees are a good option. If available sugar pouches are another good option that you can carry around on your person.
A glass of juice may help you get relieved very fast.

However, I would also suggest that once the episode is over, do not relax. Rush to the hospital. Usually the hypoglycemia lasts longer than the sugar provided, and therefore needs a prolonged sugar monitoring

Suggest checking your HbA1C. if its too close to 6, the chances are high that you are developing hypoglycemia

I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above so i can be of help further. Best of luck.

I have given you the answer to the maximum considering the information provided. The results of the tests could further enhance my answer to you.

Please do understand that some details could be extracted from a detailed history and examination.

Looking forward to your return query with the details asked so that I can help you further. Please feel free to ask another query. Would be glad to help you.
