Hi doc.., if a patient is asked to go for a biopsy in case of grade 3 prostatomegaly , whose turp is tested 10.75 a year before and now it reduced to 9.75 few days back.. what could be the prognosis of the patient? Will that be a cancer causative factor or is it just normal
I think you are confusing PSA levels with TURP. PSA levels are important in suspecting cancer of prostate. If base line PSA was higher earlier and presently it is coming down then there is no need to worry. Relative PSA levels must be followed up yearly. Grade 3 prostatomegaly may require surgery and that is called as TURP.
