My throat has been hurting for the past couple of days, and I went to the doctors because I thought I had strep throat but they tested a culture which said I didn t. I don t know what it could be because I have white patches on my left tonsil and it is all red and swollen. I also have bumps on the back (near my throat) of my tongue, and some on the left side near the back as well. The left side of my whole mouth has been hurting the most, and everything has just seemed to be swollen and irritated. It hurts to swallow almost everything and it prevents me from going outside and doing anything. I would really like to know what it is.
I am a 29 year old female, 5 9, 142lbs. I had spinal fusion surgery december 2010 with instrumentation from T4 to L4. I have had increasing back pain since late July which has gotten progressively worse in August. For the past 3-4 weeks I had noticed in an increase in needing to urinate but I just thought I was drinking more. I also was having stomach pain/cramping and a lot of back pain but I attributed the stomach pain to IBS and the back pain to just worse back pain since I ve had surgery. Since this past week my back is swollen in spots. Friday night pain got worse, I had chills and muscle spasms. Then by Monday my entire spine felt like it was on fire with a lot of pain and stiffness particulary in my mid-upper back and neck. I went to see my general pracitioner Monday this week who found bacteria, white blood cells, nitrites and blood in my urine. She prescribed sulfameth trimethoprim to take with aleve. I have been on this since Monday. The burning sensation along my spine has decreased however there is alot of pressure in my back...just feels huge. I am having more pain in the mid-lower left side and there is swelling there and am very fatigued. I may have had a slight fever if any but my regular body temps always 96-97. Yesterday I developed more abdominal pain that wasn t there before and I am still having muscle spasms. My question is whether or not I need to seek additional medical treatment or if this is a normal response to antibiotic treatment and just wait it out . I have called my surgeons office and dr office but still haven t been called back and I don t know what to do. I am fearing a kidney infection and of course I m very concerned about any infection settling in my hardware along my spine. How do they check for a kidney and or spinal infection? Can you please recommend a course of action. I really don t want to go to an ER because I always feel like that s for trauma stuff but I don t know what other options I have at the moment. Please give me some guidance. Thank you.
I have large whitle bumps on the back of my tongue that feels like I burnt it. I didn t drink anything too hot either to cause the burning feeling.. My throat is sore. I do have ear pain which I have very often, way before I discovered the white bumps on my tongue. I m concerned that they may lead down further into my throat since they are in the back of my tongue. Could it be cancer?
I have been suffering from indigestion, bloating after eating and a mild IBS and have been using prebiotics and probiotics for the last over a year. It did not prove effective and my condition continues. It will be much appreciated if you would be good enough to prescribe some supplements which could be available in U.K. I live in London.
For the past year I have been suffering from various types of stomach related issues. It began with painless bloody stools. When those stopped I began to have pretty bad indigestion, gas and bloating after meals and now I am frequently getting heartburn. I am a thin 27 year old man. What could this be and how do I fix it?

35 yr-old male, police officer, overall good health.
I'm reporting chronic dyspepsia. More precisely noisy gurgling and rumbling that seems to be coming from my stomach, loud gastric noises. Probably worst 20 minutes after lunch and dinner. Its a semi-constant discomfort.
It has been a constant problems for years.
Two or three years ago I was tested to have H. Pylori after a blood test after a routine police medical exam. I took the medication regime prescribed. During the treatment, it did not seem to really help. However, at the end of treatment, I was free of gastric discomfort for abt 4 months. I was so happy. Then, it slowly came back insidusly. Lately, it seems to be coming back even stronger. Stress and poor sleeping patterns seems aggravate it. I just realize that its worst if I sleep on the left side. Food releaves sympstoms until discomfort starts. Ranitidine appears somewhat effective. But I don't like to take medications without knowing what exactly I have. Anti-Acid not so effective.
I take: Only take about 25 pills ranitidine per year. 200 anti-acid a year (Magnesium/calcium) I take about 20 pills of NSAID /year Does not eat bad food more than 2 times a week. Eat well to very well.
