What Is The Treatment For Swelling In Leg?

Hi, I am Dave. The last few days my left leg from below the knee to my toes is noticeably swollen. No pain only a mild sensation similar to a large blister, like three s water just under the skin. I work every day with lots of walking. Also there is no real discoloration. Years back when in a wheelchair I had bouts of edema, which I thought this was, but that was always in both legs. That this hasn t gone down for several days makes me wonder now. My age is 54, I have type 2 diabetes controlled by diet and metformin. I recently, about 2 weeks ago started Celebrex for osteoarthritis in my back and hands. I stopped when the swelling showed up. I took it for 10 days and stopped 3 days ago, today being the fourth day. I do take naproxim sodium and Ibuprofen, naprox in the am and ibuprofen after work. I normally have alcohol in the evening but for monetary reasons haven t the past 2.5 weeks. With no discoloring and no pain Is there any reason for panic? Sorry to trouble you, there was no mention of payment requirements until I typed all that info, I m such an idiot! no credit cards no insurance=no one cares

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
After going through your history only possibility is deep vein thrombosis but it is also less likely reason being 1. No pain 2. No discolouration 3. You are physically active . I would advise limb elevation and crepe bandage application for a week to reduce swelling. If this is not helping you should go for doppler ultrasound of involved limb to confirm diagnosis. If it shows abnormal results you need to consult general surgeon with report. All the best.
