18 months ago I began deep vein thrombosis treatment and began homeopathic detox simultaneously. I began to have swelling in my feet, ankle, and calf. I now have little swelling in my right but my left continues to swell regularly and pretty significant, almost never having no swelling, and this worries me. I have asked my vein dr., detox dr., and M.D., but my vein dr nor M.D seem to be concerned, even though I know this isn't normal, and my detox dr. can only guess that I need more detox. My calf is also somewhat inflamed, but there is no pain. I have no previous history of swelling. Offer your professional advice?

I have a lot of pain in my calves, starting about one inch below and to the right of the back of my knee - running much of the way down my leg. It is a constant thing that when touched, hurts a great deal. A relaxing massage than anyone else would enjoy is very, very painful for me. Sometimes my legs ache in this position, but mostly it is when I touch the area. It isn't everywhere - but feels like it is soreness on a vein - but it is in both legs and runs a long distance. Can you tell me what that is and what I should do about it? I have had this for years.

doctor1 MD

I've had a PE (two were found) in the past from a superficial vein thrombosis. This was around 4 years ago. I was treated appropriately and have been off all blood thinning meds for about 3 years. Two weeks ago, I went into the ED for an anaphylactic reaction to latex (it's pretty normal for me) and developed severe chest pain. They ran a d-dimer and it was elevated, did a CT with contrast and did not find a clot. Now, I have this pretty severe calf pain. I didn't fall, twist my leg or anything. My calfs are both the same size. My left ankle and foot are pretty swollen. My leg is not red or warm to the touch. Should I be concerned?

doctor1 MD

Brief Answer:
Possibility of Deep vein thrombosis to be consider

Hello! I had a hysteroscopy and a polypectomy along with a Mirena Coil fitted under a general anaesthetic on Monday. I was on my period at the time. I had no problems and was discharged to go home that evening. Three questions: 1/ I have some throbbing pain in my thigh, it s not red, hot or swollen. Just intermittent throbbing. I don t believe it s DVT, but could it be related to my procedure? 2/ I am having lots of cramps even though I have more spotting than actual bleeding and its now four days on. I know it can take between 3 - 6 months for the coil to settle down; does this include pain? 3/ My polypectomy wasn t planned and I wasn t advised how long to wait before having intercouse. What is a safe period of time to wait? Many Thanks Vicky
