What Is The Treatment For Hypertension?

hi, I am a 51 year old female and was diagnosed with hypertension at age 18 with Tachycardia too. I was put on atenolol and Xanax at that time and it has worked well up until I lost my son 9 months ago. it seems as if nothing will bring it down. I am currently on atenolol still, clonidine, lisinopril and a high dose of valium too and nothing seems to bring it down and I feel awful to say the least! HELP! any suggestions? and question #2, this problem started about a year ago and it is my Blood Pressure has been as high as 190/ 120 and pulse rate around 40. this happens all the time .no Doctors never have an answer for me . can you please tell me what causes this and is it dangerous? while this is happening, I have severe chest pain {EGK shows no heart attack, although abnormal} but Dr.s will not give me pain med because as they have told me my heart would stop. can someone please answer my questions? I will greatly appreciate it! I am so tired!!!!!

As you state pulse of 40 that is too low and if true, thenchange of BP meds are necessary.dose of atenolol may be decreased or switch to metoprolal may be required. For this you will have to be in periodical touch with a gen.physician/cardiologist.Take clonazipam0.5mg twice a day instead of valium. with atenolol/metoprolol pulse should be maintaine above 50 with dose modifications.
