What Is The Remedy For The Rashes Turned Into Scabs On The Neck And Is This Contagious?

My friend has a rash that turned into scabs. It s only on her neck. She was on my blankets and touched my blankets with her rash. My mom said it s not contagious anymore because the rash scabbed over. Is this true or can I still get the rash because she touched my blankets with her neck?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

That depends on the cause. If this is an infection like impetigo, it can spread. But conditions like contact dermatitis/blister beetle dermatitis will not spread. Just wash the blanket well in detergent water and dry under sun to kill any bacteria over there.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
