What Is The Remedy For Pars Fracture?

Hi - i have recently been diagnosed with a pars fracture - right side fracture - i was a leftarm fast bowler for many years and maybe this caused fracture originally ? the first symptomatic episode was lifting a table 10 years ago which resulted in agony - since then i have had a number of episodes - quite a few recently causing pain, sciatica, constant pain at times - i have had epidural (3 discs also bad) plus most recently pars block with no relief to date - this is affecting my life alot - driving ,sleeping, walking, sitting, standing - (and i would have thought i had high pain tolerance) - sorry to be so long winded - would you think surgery is now an option? i am 44 years of age and previously fit and healthy . thanks

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Pars fracture leads to weakness in spine and it can cause severe pain in back. If on X ray it is showing movement then best treatment will be surgery. You need to fix the fracture to treat this problem. Other option is to wear LS corset, this will support your back and though you have to wear it for most of the time, it will be option to avoid surgery. If you have already gone through injections and now you want permanent relief then i must say that surgery is a right choice .
