What Is The Prognosis If Having Blown Mitral Valve Allowing Blood To Fill Up Lungs?

A friend of mine has a blown mitral valve allowing blood to fill his lungs - this happened last evening. Could you please tell me a little more about how serious this is and his prognosis? The doctor stated that he is "cautiously optimistic for his recovery." Thank you.

HI
Thank for asking to the HCM
I really appreciate your concern looking to the history given here, if this is Mitral disease (stenosis ) as the leaf of mitral valve became tight it reduces the competency and decreased the function and consequently developed the congestion in the lung which could cause the heart failure with the right treatment this comes around very well but still the replacement of valve would be needed, have a nice day.
