Hello,

From the details that you have given about pill taking, as long as you have not missed or delayed pills, the chances of pregnancy are less than one in a hundred women. You should continue to take a pill every day if you are on a twenty-eight tablet pill supply. You just start a new packet once the current one finishes. It is irrespective of when you bleed. Most women get there period on 21st or 22 and day of the period. There may be some bleeding in-between period as the time taken for hormones to reach effective levels vary from person to person.

In the case of 21-day pill supply, restart new packet after seven days of pill-free time. Please note that if you started taking pills on the first day of your period, then the sex that you had is not unprotected. You must have been in the non-fertile phase of your cycles then. If you used condoms, it would give you additional birth control protection, and protection against infections that are passed through sex.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Sabina Hussain
