Hard stools stretch, rupture and
bruise the delicate inner lining of the
anal canal, which causes anal fissures.
The mainstay of treatment is to avoid constipation. Take high fiber diet including lot of green leafy vegetables, plenty of water daily; and, 2 teaspoonful of Isabgol husk twice daily (regularly).
Once the stools become normal, anti-fissure rectal ointment and a short course of antibiotics (to eradicate fissures' infection) should be used. Long-term use of Isabgol is safe, instead of
Cremaffin.
Get a Thyroid Profile done to rule out/detect under-active thyroids, since
hypothyroidism is a common cause of
chronic constipation.
