What Is The Best Treatment For Anal Fissure?

Hi my name is aman and i am suffering from anal fissure problem for last two years. Doctor gave me advise to take cremaffin plus & nirogesic ointment tube to apply for anal fissure. But the problem remains continuous and not healed properly & after getting advise from doctor the main issue is with having constipation. My main issue is with dosage of cremaffin plus while reading so many comments from your expert doctors panel that the excess and continuous dosage is harmful but how long we can take the same. Bcz if we cannot take the dosage of cremaffin plus than the problem of anal fissure again occours. And i have also changed my diet schedule as per your opinions i.e banana, intake of water, avoid spices & fried meals. But the problem remains the same since last two years. And i have also used ayurvedic medicines TRIFLAA churn but the problem remains the same. Kindly give me advise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi Aman,

Thanks for your query.

Hard stools stretch, rupture and bruise the delicate inner lining of the anal canal, which causes anal fissures.

The mainstay of treatment is to avoid constipation. Take high fiber diet including lot of green leafy vegetables, plenty of water daily; and, 2 teaspoonful of Isabgol husk twice daily (regularly).

Once the stools become normal, anti-fissure rectal ointment and a short course of antibiotics (to eradicate fissures' infection) should be used. Long-term use of Isabgol is safe, instead of Cremaffin.

Get a Thyroid Profile done to rule out/detect under-active thyroids, since hypothyroidism is a common cause of chronic constipation.

Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me and will prescribe the advised drugs in appropriate doses.

If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.
