What Is Meaning Of Mitotic Lesion Seen In Mammogram?

Hi there

I went for a mammograph today and they found a lession which there comments was" the lessions shows all the characterestics of a being a mitotic lession and immediate excission biopsy indicated. what do they mean as this does sound very scary for one that does not know the medical mumbo jumbo?

Thank you for your question on HCM. Mammography is like sonography of your breast. It is the baseline investigation for any breast mass or lump. And mitotic figure in mammography suggest malignant looking lesion with out calcification and without smooth margins. So there is always doubt of malignancy in mammography. To remove this dillema one need confirmation by tissue diagnosis and for this excision biopsy is needed. So you should definitely undergo this.
