What Is Causing The Pain In My Calf And Buttock?

I was awoken two evenings ago with pain in my left buttock, back of my thigh and calf. The pain increased through out the next day until I could barely walk. I went to a local doctor, after a physical examination he stated that my pelvis was out of alignment, he proceeded to manipulate my hip area. Afterwards it felt a little better. Woke up again last night with the same problem but much worse. I have taken 3 prescribed 500 mg naproxen so far (per directions), iced my back and calf to little avail. The pain in my calf is worse that the other afflicted areas. The pain can be described as if I just had a major cramp, but the pain doesn t go away.Could this condition be sciatic and not the condition I was diagnosed with yesterday?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be a sciatica and may need physical therapy to get better. An orthopedic surgeon may be better equipped to help you.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. John Chacko, Orthopedic Surgeon
