What Is Causing Numbness And Blocked Feeling In Ears Along With Dizziness?

My right ear feels numb and blocked, I m feeling sensitive to noise. There is no pain, no temperature. I m feeling off balanced and dizzy. Went to a local doctor who checked my ears, throat and chest and all is clear, and without coming to a diagnosis I was prescribed antibiotics. Are you able to provide some idea as to what is wrong?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of feeling of numbness and blocked feeling only in one ear that is the right ear. You are also feeling off balance and dizzy.
Local Doctor may not be in a position or having proper instrumentation to have a proper diagnosis hence it is important to have an opinion of an ENT Surgeon for proper clinical evaluation and treatment.
The commonest cause of the symptoms you have noted are the inflammation inside the tympanic membrane most probably due to infection traveled from the Eustachian tube from upper respiratory infection.
The inflammation then spreads to the inner ear which has the balancing apparatus called semicircular canals and when any of it gets inflammation you get the feeling of dizziness and off balance.
You need the following:
Continue the antibiotics.
Get additional decongestant and anti-inflammatory medicines.
Do not blow the nose and get bed rest to for an early recovery. Be under the care of an ENT Surgeon.
