What Does The TSH Abnormality Signify And What Is The Medication To Bring It Normally?
Thyroid Report:- T3-62 ng/dl;T4-5.8 ug/dl and TSH-97.53 uIU/ml.The report also carries a comment : IF NOT ON DRUGS SUGGESTED FT3 & FT4 ESTIMATION. Age:-29 yrs. I am using Thyrox-50 daily (Except Tuesday). In my last test TSH was above 245. Please advise the significance of TSH abnormality and suitable course of medication to bring it to normalcy.
HI I read carefully your query and understand your concerns. From your thyroid report I understand that you have hipothyroidism. The normal range of the thyroid hormones are:T3-80-180 ng/dl ; T4 7-18 ng/l and TSH 0,5-6 uIU/ml. As you can see your T3,T4 are below the normal range and TSH is very high. This shows that your treatment isn't appropriate. The treatment goals for hypothyroidism are to reverse clinical progression and correct metabolic derangements, as evidenced by normal blood levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxine (T4). In my opinion you need to take a higher dose of Thyrox.I suggest to take Thyrox 100 ug daily and to repeat your thyroid exam after one month.
Hope this answers your query.if you have additional questions or follow up queries, please do not hesitate in writing to us.
Wishing you good health.
