What Does Swollen Glands A Really Bad Headache Indicate?

Hi, Just want to check if I just have a cold/flu or something more. Problems are: end of Jan - most of Feb I had really bad cold symptoms inc. aching skin/joints, headaches, chesty cough, sinus blocked and constantly producing mucus (for a whole month) When the above symptoms were starting to end in mid feb I had a really sickly stomach with aches which lasted a week and I just couldnt eat anything. I also developed extremely dry lips around this time and this is still continuing now. The sickness finished towards end of Feb. After only a week or two of feeling ok (apart from the dry lips) I now have very swollen glands a really bad headache, very aching skin/joints. on top of this my lips are so dry they have split in both corners of my mouth and no amount of lip balm/moisturiser helps. Please could you help as I am getting really upset with it now! Many thanks Helen

Hi,

The dry lips with cracks on sides can be a condition called cheilosis and need Folic acid as main treatment along with multivitamins, mineral and trace elements. The swollen glands need Ultrasound and FNAC. Biopsy if FNAC is not conclusive. As for the chesty cough, phlegm and so on relevant investigations of blood, X-ray chest, CT scan of chest if needed.

For the abdominal conditions you need a proper clinical evaluation, examination and investigations like upper GI endoscopy, CT scan of abdomen and as needed to know the exact cause of symptoms and get treated accordingly. All the varied symptoms can be suggestive of some underlying serious condition hence the need of detailed clinical evaluation, coordination between different Specialist and investigations.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
