Hello and welcome to HCM,
The interpretation of the pelvic
sonography is as follows:
The presence of multiple follicles in the ovaries, absence of dominant follicle and absence of fluid in pouch of douglas (POD) suggests a polycystic ovary.
Polycystic ovary is characterised by presence of multiple follicles in the periphery of the ovaries pattern similar to that of a garland or necklace.
Absence of dominant follicle suggests that no follicle has matured in the cycle.
In normal cycles one follicle enlarges becomes dominant and finally ovulates.
Absence of fluid in POD suggests absence of ovulation because POD is filled with fluid in case ovulation occurs.
There is srong possibility of
polycystic ovarian syndrome.
You need to consult your gynecologist with report.
Certain investigations - FSH, LH,
testosterone levels etc have to be done.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome is characterised by menstrual irregularities which are present in your case also.
Treatment will be instituted once diagnosis is made.
Thanks and take care
