What Does Mass In Lower Abdomen Suggest?

yes, my 23 year old nephew is in the hospital and they found a mass in his lower duodenum...today he was told the the biopsy results came out "inconclusive"....what does this mean exactly??? In the meantime, he is being transferred to Memorial Sloan Kettering next Monday. The hospital he is in is not a very good one -- formerly known as Booth Memorial, now known as New York Queens Hospital.

Hi! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

The team of doctors might go for a repeat biopsy of the mass and also some radiological investigations like a CECT/MRI to assist in the diagnosis. They might also go for a diagnostic laparoscopy in case all the investigations fail to arrive at the diagnosis. Further management would depend on the diagnosis of the condition and it is too early and may not be possible to opine on it over net at this stage.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your nephew's problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
