What Does High SGOT Means?

Dear Doctor, I am 28 yr old Male, having fever from last 6 days. Undergone MP test which resulted negative. Later CBC was done which resulted in marginal low Platelet count, Urine Report resulted in FEW Pus cells . Doctor later suggested to undergo LFT(Liver Function Test) and USG . LFT resulted high SGOT ( 431) and SGPT(1065) . Also USG reports sligh enlargement in liver. I am consuming CEFTAS -200 and CYRA 20 medicines. Doctor still not sure of the reason behind the fever.Where fever continues to remain in the range of 99.6 - 100.4. Please guide, what kind of disease is this?

Hi
I can understand your concern for the high SGOT.
Incomplete data like any associated symptoms of vomiting, yellowish discoloration of the skin, loss of appetite or abdominal pain.

After having gone through your history it seems to me you are apparently suffering from inflammation of the liver (hepatitis) which is reflected in the form of raised SGOT & SGPT levels and low platelet count. Th possibility of viral infection like hepatitis A or B should be ruled out by the serological tests. And you must also have additional LFTs lie serum bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase, & serum GGT.
Ceftas 200 is an antibiotic effective only in infections caused by the bacteria. And Cyra 20 is used to treat acidity related stomach problems.

Hope this answers your query.
