What Does Brown Hard Lump On Leg Indicate?

Hi, a few years ago i had a mosquito bite on my leg.. or what i thought was a bite... it was itchy and it bled a few times... its healed over, but its left a brown, hard, small lump on the side of my leg. it doesn't hurt when i touch it, is it a skin cancer?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi ! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

Considering the duration of your symptoms, it seems less likely to be a skin cancer. With all probabilities it is a type of benign kind of abnormal wound healing (either a hepertrophied scar or a keloid). Hypertrophic scar is self limiting problem, whereas keloid might spread away from the original scar. However, I would advise you to get it examined and confirmed by a general surgeon/dermatologist to be sure and for proper management.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.

Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
