Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does A Swollen Lymph Node In The Groin Area Indicate?
I HAVE HAD NON-HODGEKINS LYMPHOMA SINCE THE NINETIES. COULD THERE BE ANOTHER REASON FOR THE SWOLLEN/INFLAMED LYMPH NODE IN THE GROIN AREA. I HAVE HAD LYMPHOMA ON THE OTHER SIDE, I AM FEMALE AGE 72, AND ONE RETURNING ON THE OTHER SIDE, BUT ONLY THE NEW ONE IS GROWING FAST AND BURNING. COULD THAT BE SOMETHING ELSE?
Since NHL occurred more than 20 years ago, it's very unlikely that a recurrence is a cause. Besides that feeling pain, burning or other symptoms usually means inflammation. The same applies for the rapid growth rate (within days). Your doctor should check for other sites of lymph node enlargement, including the spleen and liver and for local causes (infectious that is). General symptoms like fever, malaise work anything else may help. Blood testing may also provide more clues.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Panagiotis Zografakis,
