What Do You Recommend For A Child Suffering From Dry Cough And Stuffy Nose?

My son has had a cough and stuffy nose for well over a week now. While traveling we took him to a walk in clinic and the doctor said to go get Children's claritin. She also prescribed ammoxicillin but said he didn't really need it. Once we noticed he wasn't getting better, we got the prescription filled. Putting him to bed tonight he coughed every 2 minutes or so and it's a deep, almost dry cough, not mucas sounding. I feel like I should take him into the pediatrician tomorrow. In addition to all of this, we had to treat him for lice this week as well. Poor things had it rough. He is 4 1/2 and about 38 pounds. Any recommendations?

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
I really appreciate your concern for your child this seems allergic cough and it takes some days to come around no need to give any antibiotic unless it is indicated, you can try pure honey at bed time this will give good symptomatic relief, this will come around for sure but of course will take little more time be patience and take care of your child have nice day.
