Hello, Do you have burning sensations in your throat or upper abdomen? Does spicey foods aggravate your symptoms? I imagine you might have gastric reflux. Here are some tips to manage those symptoms: Trial Food Restriction: Eliminate back and red pepper; no coffee, no alcohol. Substitue smaller, more frequent meals -do not eat to fill; eliminate chocolate, mint, foods with a high fat content; lose weight if overweight; if a smoker, kindly quit; remain upright after eating; do not eat more than 3 hours before bedtime; wear loose fitting clothing and raise the head of your bed while sleeping.
These are all suggestions from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Medical Nutrition Therapy Manual. I most certainly hope they help you. Oh, and I forgot to mention that tomatoes and citrus might bother you as well. Please visit us again if we can be of assistance. Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDM
