What Could Cause Pain In The Abdomen And Jelly Substance In Stools?
Hi. I have pain in my left side abdomen and back I also have orange jelly substance on my stools. I am awaiting a referal from hospital as my ca199 levels were high. Recently diagnosed epilepsy and also underactive thyroid. Take keppra 2500 a day and thyroxine 150 a day.
Hi ! Good morning. i am Dr Shareef answering your query.
If I were your doctor, I would go for a routine stool test of yours for any ova/cyst. I would also advise you for a diet high in roughage and enough liquids and avoid eating from outside to avoid intestinal infections. If the routine investigations are normal and the symptoms persist or increase, I would refer you to a gastro-enterologist for an endoscopic evaluation of your intestines specially the colon. Till all these are done, I would advise you for some kind of anti spasmodic and a probiotic drug.Further management would depend on the reports of a clinical examination and investigations.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts. Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
