What Could Cause Pain In Lower Left Abdomen With Frequent Bowel Movements?

Dear Doctor,

I am having lower left abdominal pain with frequent bowel movements since today morning (I had already gone to the rest room for about 7/8 times within four-five hours). Therefore, I would appreciate your kind expertise advice. Thank you in advance and best regards,

Hello,
I can understand your concern for your symptoms.
1) Left lower abdominal pain + increased frequency of stool is associated with large intestine condition.
2) Diverticulitis, non-specific infection in large intestine, large intestine inflammation are some conditions which can produce these symptoms.
3) You must take adequate amount of liquids orally (with ORS powder) to prevent dehydration. In case of no able to take liquids orally, you must get hospitalized to start IV fluid and IV antibiotics treatment based on severity of symptoms.
4) antibiotic medication, anti-spasmodic medication to prevent abdominal cramp are mainstay of treatment for such conditions.
5) For confirmation, you might require stool routine and culture test, routine blood test and colonoscopy.
6) Once diagnosis would be confirmed then appropriate treatment can be started.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any further doubts, I would be happy to help you.
Have a nice day!
